A former government advisor on drug policy, Prof David Nutt specialises in research exploring the potential medicinal uses of drugs including LSD, MDMA and psilocybin. Prof Nutt will talk about the barriers to researching controlled substances in the UK and their untapped potential for treating depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Talk followed by audience Q&A.

The Festival of Debate is made up of a series of panel discussions, debates, Q&As, artistic responses and keynote speeches in Sheffield, aiming to create a meaningful dialogue around key social, political and economic issues. It is hosted by not-for-profit social enterprise Opus Independents in collaboration with a range of partners.
