"Despite celebrating its 30th birthday this year, this film never gets old! It's so quotable and I can't watch it without grinning every single time. Everyone needs to see this! [Sukayna, Chief House Manager]

Director: Rob Reiner
Cast: Cary Elwes, Robin Wright
Country: USA
Language: English
Note: This is an Autism-friendly screening. It will not be subtitled.

You haven’t seen The Princess Bride? Inconceivable!

Don’t be fooled by the title, this is not your average fairy tale film. Listen along as Peter Faulk reads his grandson a tale of pirates, giants, villains and princesses. Watch on as farm boy, Westley, battles the Fire Swamp, Cliffs of Insanity, Rodents of Unusual Size and a Sicilian, all in the name of true love.

Rob Reiner assembled an all-star cast to deliver a comedic classic that has thrilled audiences for the past 30 years. Extra points if anyone can spot the Peak District, where some of the scenes were filmed!

For autism-friendly screenings we:

* do not play music before the screening;
* reduce the volume;
* dim the lights more than usual;
* reduce the screen brightness;
* cap the audience capacity to half, to avoid the screening from being too crowded; and
* set up a a separate safe space/calm down area.

Audience members are free to move around and sit where you like; you can bring your own food and drink (although no alcohol) and carers receive free entry. The cinema also has disabled access and dedicated wheelchair spaces.

About Film Unit

Film Unit is the award winning independent cinema located in the Sheffield Students' Union. Founded in 1949, we are a group of cinema lovers who desire to provide entertainment, to be not for profit, and to promote film as an art form.

We screen a selection of films on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during term time, with the cheapest ticket price in Yorkshire. We specially curate our programme with blockbusters, independent, foreign, family and classic cinema, to ensure we provide something for everyone. For us, cinema should be for everyone, so all our standard screenings are open to the public, our matinee screenings are Hard of Hearing friendly with subtitles and this semester we are hosting a special Autism-friendly screening of Lego Batman. We're hosting two very special free screenings of I, Daniel Blake in association with Unite the Union and on April Fools' Day, we're holding a hilarious Fools Festival of British Comedy Cinema. We are volunteer-run so if you'd like to get involved, please get in touch. www.filmunit.org.uk

Once again many thanks to all our staff, volunteers and of course, our audience!

PLEASE NOTE: Online ticket sales include a 10% booking fee.
