Our longest-running and most popular class, ashtanga is an intensely physical and athletic form of yoga which aims to improve strength, stamina, flexibility and balance. In this class we will go through the primary series, a set series of poses which are said to detoxify and realign the body. Each pose is linked to the next using a “vinyasa”, a flow of movement which is synchronised to the breath. Throughout the practise, the attention is constantly focused on three actions: the breath (ujjayi pranayama), holding internal body “locks” (bandhas), and focusing the eyes (drishti). The combination of these along with the poses allows the practitioner to purify the body, the nervous system and the mind. Beginners Welcome!
