Before Sunrise (15)

Wednesday 20 February 2019
7:30pm - 9:45pm
Film Unit Cinema in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium

Director: Richard Linklater Cast: Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy Country: Multiple Language: Multiple Two strangers Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (July Delpy) decide to spend a day and an evening together in Vienna after a chance encounter on a train, with both of them knowing that this might be the only time they ever see each other. Not a whole lot actually happens in this film, with the story consisting of different parts of their conversation as they walk into a different parts of the city. However it's a damn good thing that Before Sunrise has some of the most captivating dialouge ever put to film. Hawke and Delpy's performances are fantastic, with their chemistry is positively spellbinding. It is an absolutely wonderful experience that I have watched more times than I care to admit and, to be honest, I'd happily watch it all again many times over. That's why this is my Vice-Chair's choice for this semester.
