Director: Debra Granik Cast: Thomasin McKenzie, Ben Foster Country: USA/Canada Language: English Hiding away from human civilisation in the forests of Oregon, Will (Ben Foster) and his daughter Tom (Thomasin McKenzie) live a peaceful and simple life. However, when they are discovered by the US government, they are tracked and forced back into society. Unhappy with their new situation, they both plan an escape back to their woodland home. Based on the book My Abandonment by Peter Rock, the film tackles modern ideas of safety and happiness, as well as mental illness, with Will suffering from PTSD after serving in the military. This journey is portrayed beautifully by the two leads, especially McKenzie, who delivers a stand-out performance.
