7:30pm - 9:30pm
Film Unit Cinema in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium

Director: Crystal Moselle Cast: Kabrina Adams, Emmanuel Barco Country: USA Language: English/Spanish Fully embracing the spirit of teenage rebellion, Skate Kitchen is the story of a lonely suburban teenager who discovers a New York skating subculture. As she journeys deeper, a group adopt her as one of their own, fully immersing her into a world of defiance against authority and female empowerment. From there, Camille discovers her identity and true friendship, despite the continued disapproval of her strict mother. Aside from the story, the film also acts as a wonderful showcase of exciting-yet-beautiful skateboarding footage, shot at the magic hour around New York.
