Director: Carla Simón Cast: Laia Artigas, Paula Robles Country: Spain Language:Catalan After her parents die of AIDS, six-year-old Frida is taken to the Spanish countryside to live with her Uncle Esteve, Aunt Marga and their daughter Anna. Despite this idyllic setting, Frida, having been uprooted and devastated by the loss of her parents, struggles to adapt. She starts behaving in a difficult manner, and despite the continued love of her adopted home, her scars take time to heal. A beautiful yet heart-breaking story of a little girls fractured relationship with the adult world, this film was the Spanish entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, mostly due to the wonderful performances of it’s two child characters. It demands to be watched by everyone.
