Director: Ali Soozandeh Cast: Farhad Abadinejad, Jasmina Ali Country: Germany/Austria Language: Persian Tehran Taboo is an animated Iranian drama about the lives of three women and a young musician in modern-day Tehran, where the conservatism of Islamic law collides with the freedom of 21st century life. Looking at the grittier parts of our world, such as prostitution, drugs and Hymenorrhaphy, the film explores the double standards that erupt around sex and religion, and the effects they have on our main characters. Fantastically directed by Ali Soozandeh, the powerful story is told through rotoscope animation to create an image that is simultaneously hyper-realistic and boldly colourful at the same time.
