After a difficult eighth grade, filled with both the cruel effects of puberty alongside rock bottom self-confidence, Kayla attempts to survive the last week of school before the summer. With the internet a relief from the real world, she tries to ignore the hurtful ignorance from her peers and the idealised lives of people presented online in order to find her own self at a difficult stage in her life. Written and directed by the hilarious Bo Burnham, this film is a heart-felt, dramatic and humorous coming-of-age story set in modern life. It brilliantly shows many of the issues facing modern adolescence, from uncomfortable questions of body image, to teachers and parents trying to be 'cool’.
