Coronavirus Cancellation Update

If you are a student at the University of Sheffield, you will have already seen Vice-Chancellor Koen Lamberts’ email regarding the University’s decision to cancel all face-to-face teaching for the foreseeable future due to the cases of coronavirus in the student and staff population. While this decision has not been an easy one to make, we (the committee) have elected to follow the University’s example and cancel all screenings until further notice.

There are risks which come along with hosting large events such as film screenings and festivals. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our valued patrons and dedicated volunteers. What is more, we pride ourselves on being a community-focused cinema. We cannot in good faith put the most vulnerable and susceptible people in the local community at risk.

We are currently liaising with the Box Office regarding refunding tickets. Once we have more clarity on this matter, we will post all new information on our Facebook page alert you if we are able to resume screenings. If you have any questions in the meantime, please message or email us.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience or upset this decision may cause but we hope you can understand why we are implementing such precautionary measures.

A female directed British classic, Gurinder Chadha brings us a football madness, female empowering film. Football obsessed Jess (Parminder Nagara) dreams of becoming a professional player whilst her Indian family pressures her to get married to a nice Indian boy and learn how to cook! After becoming friends with Jules (Keira Knightley), Jess starts taking serious steps toward a professional football career. Juggling family, friends, love and football, Jess has decisions to make and secrets she would prefer not to be revealed. Bend it like Beckham has something for everyone and inspires women to do whatever they want, no matter the obstacles.
