Based on the inspiring story of real-life American freedom fighter, Harriet tells the story of Harriet Tubman's dangerous escape from slavery. Once she was free, Harriet decided to return to the plantations to liberate other slaves, risking her life again and again for freedom. As she worked the underground railroad, a network of secret routes to help smuggle slaves to freedom, Harriet became one of the eras greatest heroes and saved hundreds of lives. A story of courage, tenacity and strength, Harriet Tubman has often been sidelined by history but now she has finally been given the cinematic spotlight she deserves. Cynthia Erivo gives a compelling performance as this fierce and incredible women who changed the course of history.
