Nelson Mandela Auditorium, Sheffield SU

From Hollywood's favourite New Zealand director comes a brave and witty satire set during World War II. Jojo is an indoctrinated young boy in Germany, who spends his time posting propaganda posters and dreaming about the day he will join the army. Accompanying Jojo on his adventures, offering a stream of goofy commentary and advice, is his imaginary friend - Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi). However Jojo will be forced to totally reconsider his worldview when he discovers that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their house to protect her from the Nazis Jojo is so eager to join. Despite it's comedy Jojo Rabbit contains many touching elements, carefully balanced to create perfect happy-sad cinema - a hallmark of Waititi's art.
