Chester and Llangollen (North Wales)

Glossop Road •  6 November, 8am - 5.30pm

The first half of our trip will be spent in Chester. Chester’s beauty and unique atmosphere make it one of Britain’s most popular places to visit. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse, and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1,000-year-old cathedral, 700-year-old unique shopping rows, and Chester Zoo. Explore the city aboard open top or heritage buses, take a guided walking tour of the city or enjoy a leisurely sail up the river on one of Chester’s pleasure cruises. We will then hop on the coach again, as we head into North Wales and visit Llangollen. Llangollen is a town in North Wales that is renowned for its fantastic scenery, as it is surrounded by hills and the River Dee runs all the way through the town. Though it is a small town, it has plenty of independent shops and interesting places to visit. If you want to relax, you can take a ride on the steam train, or glide along a horse-drawn river cancel boat. The canal in Llangollen is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 11 miles of canal run from Gledrid to the Horseshoe Falls via the spectacular Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

The trip will run with an 8am departure from Glossop Road. You will have free time to explore Chester and Llangollen. You will then be expected to be at the Llangollen meeting point at the end of the day at 5.30pm, so we can travel back to Sheffield.
